From spontaneous stops to unforgettable views - consider this your cheat sheet for a breezy Paris adventure

Montmartre Magic, Iconic Views & Paris After Dark

From Hilltop Charm to Glittering Landmarks

  • Basilique du Sacré-Cœur
Perched high above Montmartre, this iconic white-domed basilica offers a peaceful escape from the city’s buzz, paired with sweeping panoramic views that instantly remind you why Paris never loses its charm.

Tip: Wander through nearby Place du Tertre, where local artists, portrait sketchers, and charming cafés create that classic bohemian Paris atmosphere.

  • Montmartre Strolls + “I Love You” Wall
Hidden within Jehan Rictus Square, this romantic art installation showcases “I love you” in over 250 languages - an unexpectedly heartfelt stop in one of Paris’ most artistic neighborhoods.

Fun Fact: The wall’s fractured blue design symbolizes a shattered sky pieced back together through love.

  • Moulin Rouge Area
Tourist-heavy? Definitely. But passing the legendary red windmill still feels like stepping into a glamorous slice of Parisian history.
  • Galeries Lafayette Rooftop
Beyond its grand shopping halls, Galeries Lafayette rewards visitors with one of Paris’ best free rooftop views - offering stunning cityscapes and an unforgettable Eiffel Tower backdrop.

Photo Tip: Golden hour transforms the skyline into something truly magical.

  • Trocadéro Square
Busy, lively, and iconic for a reason - this remains one of the best spots for those dramatic Eiffel Tower photos.

Tip: Head toward the side platforms for better angles and slightly fewer crowds.

  • Louvre at Sunset
Even without entering the museum, watching the glass pyramid glow beneath soft pink skies is one of those effortlessly magical Paris moments.

Tip: Walk around Cour Napoléon for some of the most photogenic sunset perspectives.

  • If You’re Exploring Nearby (and craving for Japanese food)😜: Kodawari Ramen
For a fun dining detour near the Louvre area, Kodawari Ramen offers an immersive Tsukiji-inspired experience, complete with detailed market-style interiors and rich, satisfying bowls.

Travel Tip: The queue can be long, so arriving earlier or outside peak hours helps.

Royal Escapes, Chic Streets & Eiffel Tower Sparkle

  • Gardens of Versailles
Even without entering the palace (we were not able to get tickets😭), Versailles’ sprawling gardens are breathtaking - over 800 hectares of fountains, statues, and manicured beauty once designed to impress royalty. (I'll draft a separate post for the Versailles) 😉

Ticket Tip: Garden tickets can often be purchased onsite, but palace tickets should always be booked ahead.

  • Champs-Élysées
More than luxury boutiques, this famous avenue is also a hotspot for French pharmacy beauty finds. Think designer stores one minute, discounted La Roche-Posay the next.

Travel Tip: Bring extra luggage space for skincare.

  • Café Joyeux
A personal favourite and more than just a café - this social enterprise serves great drinks while supporting inclusive employment. A feel-good stop in every sense.
  • Arc de Triomphe
With the sunset casting a golden glow behind it, this iconic monument feels even more majestic—creating one of Paris’ most effortlessly cinematic views.

Tip: Use the underground passage for safer access and better photos.

  • Place de la Concorde & La Madeleine
Walking this route feels like stepping through layers of Parisian history, where grand landmarks, elegant architecture, and iconic city views seamlessly unfold from one stop to the next.
  • Eiffel Tower by Night
Seeing the Iron Lady by day is one thing - on my last visit, it was just a quick stop under the scorching heat—but watching her sparkle after dark this time was on another level entirely. The wait felt worth it as the tower lit up against the night sky, turning an already iconic view into something almost cinematic.

Tip: Grab a bench around Champ de Mars, snack from local vendors, and settle in for the hourly light show.

Reminder: It’s crowded, a little chaotic, but undeniably magical. Keep an eye on your belongings.

Gothic Beauty, Riverside Walks & Final Parisian Moments

  • Sainte-Chapelle
Although we skipped the long queue, admiring this Gothic masterpiece from the outside was still worth it - especially knowing its stained glass windows date back to the 13th century and are among the finest in the world.

Tip: Book online and go early if seeing the stained glass inside is on your list.

  • Notre-Dame Cathedral
Though restoration continues, Notre-Dame remains one of Paris’ most powerful sights. Even from the outside, its Gothic façade and iconic towers still command attention, especially knowing the cathedral dates back to the 12th century and has stood through centuries of history, change, and resilience. (Guess I'll be coming back to see it once it's opened 😁)

Fact: Restoration is ongoing and expected to continue until 2026.

  • Seine River Walks
Some of Paris’ best moments happen between the landmarks - wandering past Hôtel de Ville, Tour Saint-Jacques, hidden churches, and charming cafés.
  • Recommendaiton: Bistro Régent
A go-to for simple but satisfying French comfort food. I’ve been here before and loved it, so coming back felt like a no-brainer - reliable, hearty, and perfect for a relaxed final meal before heading off to the next adventure.

Paris Tips for First-Timers & Returning Travelers

  • Paris is more than luxury – Great skincare deals, cozy cafés, and hidden gems are everywhere.
  • Plan less, wander more – Paris often shines brightest in the unexpected moments.
