Travel To Bali: What You Need to Enter As Of 2025

I’ve flown to Bali twice this year (2025), and every time I passed through immigration in just a few minutes - while hundreds of travelers lined up at the manual counters. The secret?

If you prepare a few things before you fly, you can use Bali’s autogates for a fast and hassle-free entry.

Here are the three key reminders I always complete (and that any eligible tourist can follow too):

1. Apply for Autogate Eligibility (Visa Exemption or Pre-Arrival Registration)

One of the biggest time-savers at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport is being able to use the autogates instead of queuing at the manual immigration counters. To do that, you need to complete Indonesia’s online pre-arrival registration.

Pre-Arrival Registration / Visa Exemption

Apply at the official Indonesia eVisa website.

If your nationality is eligible and you complete the online pre-arrival registration (Visa Exemption, e-VOA, or similar), you can use the autogates and skip the regular immigration lines.

What this gives you:

  • Autogate access upon arrival
  • Faster immigration clearance
  • No need to queue at manual counters
  • Pre-verified passport data for quick scanning

This simple step has saved me so much time during both of my Bali trips this year.

2. Pay the Bali Tourism Levy (Mandatory)

Every foreign visitor must pay the IDR 150,000 Tourism Levy.
You can pay at Bali airport, but pre-paying is always better. Pay online thru the official We Love Bali website.

Why I pay online:

  • No queue at the levy counter

  • QR code ready for scanning

  • One less thing to worry about on arrival

3. Fill Out the Digital Arrival Card

Indonesia now uses a digital arrival form, which replaces the old paper card.
It covers:

  • Immigration info

  • Customs declaration

  • Health declaration

You can download the All Indonesia app or thru the web version.

Submit it before your flight and keep the QR code ready on your phone.

Why These 3 Steps Make Your Arrival Effortless

By doing everything in advance:

  • You go straight to the autogates

  • Scan your passport + QR codes

  • And you’re through immigration in minutes

Meanwhile, manual immigration lines can stretch anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, especially during peak hours or peak season.

Bonus Tips

Optional but helpful:

  • Pre-book your airport transport

  • Have your hotel confirmation saved

  • Screenshot all QR codes

  • Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months

  • Check whether you need a visa

Have an enjoyable trip in Bali!
