Penang, Malaysia: Hard Rock Hotel Keeps Rockin'

It's been a year since the last travel... 😭As most borders are still closed for tourism, all I can do for now is reminisce the enjoyable moments pre-pandemic.

One of the unforgettable destinations I have been to is Penang in Malaysia. From its Insta-worthy shop houses to unlimited food options to rich history, it's a destination that will never run out of offerings to visitors. Another reason why this place holds a special place is my memory is the Hard Rock Hotel Penang.

Located on the famous beaches of Batu Ferringhi - around 30-45 minutes from Georgetown, it was a perfect place to relax after a full-packed schedule. Hard Rock Hotel featured a combination of glamorous, energetic and cutting-edge contemporary design. With the iconic, gigantic guitar on its façade with the vintage neon signs and neon red purple lighting, who would miss it?

Let's take a quick tour inside the Hard Rock Penang...

Hallway

The hallways are embellished with portraits of popular music artists and some memorabilia displays of famous artists like David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Slash, to name a few.

Bedroom

Ahhhh the bedroom... the comfy bedroom.😍

I fell in love with the neon purple pink-ish lights underneath the furniture below the TV and on the headboard. There's a wardrobe, console, bedside table, a single couch and a study table - plenty of rooms to store stuff. And oh, the menu for in-room dining is available with just a few clicks of the TV's remote. 😁

The room was spacious with carpeted floor. The closet has it's lightings too, when opened the lights lit up. The floor to ceiling sliding glass wall and door offers a picturesque view of the ocean.

Bathroom

If there's one thing that surprised me was the bathroom. The wall that divides the bathroom and the main bedroom can be glided to both sides. The two panels, which served as the wall, slide to either side showcasing an open concept bathroom. 😁And note, the mirrors are on the wall. πŸ˜†

So wanna watch the TV or enjoy the ocean view while showering or brushing the teeth? By all means just glide the wall panel of your choice and viola!πŸ˜„

Balcony

Ohhh the balcony.. my favourite spot. It had a perfect view of the pool below, which glows up at night, and the peaceful ocean.

Just grab a cup of tea (or any beverage) and a light snack then savour the serene moment while listening to the sound of waves crashing on the shore, aside from the laughter of the guests enjoying the pool. Such a relaxing sound indeed!

The ocean view room is a great option for those who enjoy watching the sea.

Swimming Pool

Not 100% sure but the swimming pool seems to span almost the entire length of the hotel. In fact, if I am not mistaken, the rooms at level one have a direct access to the pool from the room itself. Cool isn't?

A lot of sunbeds and lounge chairs can be found beside the pool and on the rooftop of the restaurant/bar (did not pay much attention to it πŸ˜‚). Meanwhile, kids can enjoy the slides in the middle section.

The pool transforms into a more tranquil spot at night, when the colourful lights are switched on. Ahh what a sight, so calming.

But if you're in a party mood kind of feelin' then the Hard Rock Cafe is the place to be. Catch the live band and enjoy partying the night away with great music together with your favourite drinks. And oh, you can request a song from the band as well.

Beach

Craving for some vitamin sea was long overdue, hence this part of Penang was the perfect destination before bidding goodbye to the place.

Exploring the beach area was ... okay, not for swimming. The water wasn't clear maybe due to the rain in the past few days during our visit. So my poor soul was just contented, satisfying my craving for the salty smell of the warm sea breeze and soft, powder sand on my feet.

Main Lobby

Something worth mentioning is the main lobby. The little child inside me was so astonished at the lightings in the lobby where the name of the hotel was projected.

Although it was just a one night stay at Hard Rock Penang since the next day was the flight back home,  it was worth it. It was such a pleasant stay.

Who knows, when travel is allowed, we might be back!
