Christmas At Home: Holiday Season Amidst the Pandemic

Can you smell it? Can you feel it? Can you see it? Yes! It's that time of the year again - Christmas! Holiday season is just around the corner, oh well, as of this writing. 😍 🎄

Guess I am blessed to be born in a place where Christmas is celebrated longer than the rest of the world - the Philippines. But being in a far away land, all I can do is reminisce.....😂

When the calendar month strikes "ber".. September, it signifies the start of the Christmas season. Colourful decors are starting to appear, embellishing not just big malls, different establishments or smaller shops but homes too. Christmas carols can be heard almost everywhere haunting your ears. Carolers visit houses singing Christmas songs in exchange for a small amount of money. As the big day draws closer, some will lit fireworks not just at nighttime but even on daytime. 🎆 😱

....That is until today, year 2020, when the world is tormented with an unseen but deadly enemy. The Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc (and is still afflicting other nations) that caused the world to halt. Borders are closed; many shops, hospitality establishments, airline companies and more have ceased operations. A lot of families have lost their loved ones and many are still confined in medical facilities fighting for their lives. Others are stranded somewhere far from their families or serving the community to help battle this enemy. All these lead to a question.. can we still have a merry and happy Christmas?

A simple answer is yes we can! It has been my yearly habit to spend Christmas with family or friends and travel somewhere for the year end - New Year. Sadly, it will not happen this year. It's heartbreaking for someone who loves to see the beauty of the world......😭

But there are many things to be grateful for, to celebrate and to share not just this Christmas season but every single day .... I know mine. 😁 What about you? What are the things that you are still thankful to have?

So, let's not stop feeling the spirit of Christmas despite the problem we are facing. Be happy, share your blessings to those who are in need to spread happiness, and I am pretty sure it will be a Merry Christmas! 🥳

Me? I'm celebrating Christmas at home with my extended family this 2020! Wish I can go back home to my family but I know I can't. Anyway, Cheers to everyone this holiday season!
