Phan Anh Hostel: Best For Backpackers

Got everything ready for that Ho Chi Minh trip? Ticket - Check! Camera - Check! Itinerary - Check! How about your accommodation? Have you found a decent place to stay in this awesome city?

A few years ago, my friends and I were so lucky to find a good accommodation at a very friendly price in Ho Chi Minh City. Ha! With my searching skills, I found Phan Anh Hostel - a popular place for backpackers.

Location

It is centrally located in the heart of Saigon, but not along the road - we walked towards the end of the road and entered a small alley outside a market. The hostel is close to the Ben Thanh market, a popular destination for shoppers at night, and other shopping centres. In addition, it is just 20 minutes away to the Tan Son Nhat Interantional Airport.

Rate

We took 1 triple room ($30) and a mixed dorm ($8) for our male friend. The rate includes an American breakfast, happy hour, free internet, and free WiFi. Mode of payment can be card or cash (USD or Vietnamese Dong).

Room Amenities

The room was clean and organised with private bathroom. For the mixed dorm, I believe it has a communal bathroom. Each room is fully air-conditioned with basic room amenities like flat screen TV, telephone, etc. The bathroom amenities, such as towels are replaced on a daily basis which was a big factor since sanitation is important.

At the ground floor, there's a kitchen where guests can have breakfast. Hostel guests just need to request the food they want and just wait.

Just in front of the reception area, guest can have fun by playing games, watch TV, converse with other guests or just have a few bottles of beer. The hostel exudes a friendly feel to all guests.

A simple reminder, every guest need to take off their shoes or any footwear before getting inside the hostel. :)

The hostel staff were also very friendly and helpful. They helped us booked our tours for two-days and cheerfully directed us where to have dinner or go shopping.

Overall, our stay at Phan An Hostel was comfortable and fun. It is an ideal accommodation to those who are travelling on a shoestring.
