Australia Tourist Visa: Online Application

If you require a visa to enter Australia then read on. This will guide you on how to apply for an Australian tourist visa online. Let's make this quick and short.

Do note that the process may vary depending on your point of origin; in this case, it's for those who are in Singapore.

Additional note: This application is ONLY for visa 600 (Visit Visa).



Below are the steps on applying for an Australian tourist visa or the visa 600.

1. Check if you are holding a passport or travel document eligible for e600 visa online application. If so, proceed to step 2.

2. Prepare the requirements needed:

  • Original Passport valid at least 6 months from the intended travel date
  • One passport-sized photograph
  • Work pass (Epass/Spass)
  • Employment letter stating the length of employment, position, salary, the period of approved leave (specify dates) and whether leave is paid or unpaid. If you intend to travel for an extended period, the letter should state whether your job is available to you on return. If you have recently started new employment, you should consider including similar evidence for your recent employment and salary history. 
  • Flight itinerary (not the ticket — it is not recommended to pay for your flight until your visa application has been decided). If you are willing to risk then you can include the actual ticket. 
  • Full name, nationality and passport number of others travelling with you in your group (if you are not applying for your visas together)
  • If you are not working and are in a spouse relationship, your marriage certificate and evidence of your spouse’s employment and income (as per previous dot point)

Mandatory for first time travellers to Australia

  • Evidence of funds eg. latest bank statements, latest pays lips. If someone else provides your funds  (for example, parents of an applicant who is a student), evidence to support this.
  • Travel history. Pages of your passport that shows evidence of your travel history to other countries. This is highly recommended if available.
  • If staying with friends or relatives, written confirmation from them that they agree to accommodate you for the specified period
  • If staying in holiday accommodation, evidence of your arrangements.

3. Create an account at https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/register


4. Once you are signed in, choose the New Application then click the Visitor option. Follow the instructions and fill out all the necessary applications. Remember to attached the necessary documents.

5. Pay the visa processing fee of SG$156 (as of January 2018)

6. After submitting your application, you'll received a message confirming your application. You then need to schedule an appointment for your biometrics collection. Schedule an Appointment to visit the AVAC.

Reminders during the appearance at AVAC:
  • Print out the letter from the Department of Home Affairs requesting you to provide biometrics/personal identifiers
  • Original passport used for the online application
  • Service fee of SGD 52.00 
7. Once your biometrics is collected, you just need to wait for at least 7 working days for the result -sometimes, it may take longer.

To avoid delays in your visa application, it is advised that everyone included in the visa application must be present during the time of lodgment as the biometrics will be collected.
