Central 65 Hostel: Backpackers' Choice

So, I was so curious about the accommodation in one of the most expensive cities, if not the most expensive, in the world - Singapore. Sure there are plenty of hotels and hostels available in the city but the prices are way too high. Yes it will really bore a hole in your pocket.

But since I am really good at finding a decent accommodation at a friendly price, I was able to experience Singapore in a backpackers' shoe together with my two friends. I found Central 65 Hostel!

Actually, I found the hostel over at booking.com but I opted to book through their website. The rate varies depending on the room type. Another good thing about the hostel is that it is accessible from the Jalan Besar MRT - just a few minutes walk. And it is also a stone throw away from the infamous Mustafa Centre.

Need to climb the stairs to get to the reception area which is just beside the dining area. There's an indoor dining area and outdoor dining - we opted to eat outside. :)

The hotel offers free on-the-go breakfast to all guests, from 7am to 10am. Food choices available included cereals, loaf of breads which you can toast, a variety of spreads like strawberry jam, blueberry jam, peanut butter, Nutela, kaya and butter. Coffee and tea are also available 24 hours. So if you need a cup of joe at night, you can just grab one at the pantry.

One of the room types at Central 65 Hostel is the 6 Mixed Capsule Dorm. Since this type will accommodate 6 people, it's less crowded - there are a few people you need to share the room with. The room is small but it still have enough space to move.

Each guest has an own locker to store stuff. In our room, the first 2 capsules' lockers are separated - situated at the corner of the room while the rest have their lockers under the bottom capsule. Each capsule has its own light and mini cabinet. The entire room was fully air-conditioned so it is pretty comfortable inside.

The hostel also provides kit containing basic toiletries and disposable slippers. There's a communal shower/toilet room wherein both male and female can use. Although it is often wet, the bathroom is somewhat clean.

In terms of security, every guest is given one pair of key; 1 for the locker and 1 for the room. Each time you need to go back to your room, a proximity card needs to be tapped to open the front door. Meaning only those who have the access card can go inside the hostel.

Overall, it was a great experience. The staff were accommodating and nice. The beds are comfy and the rate is budget-friendly.
