Discovery Parks: Homey

Did you know that Perth is the fourth most populous metropolitan in Australia? Yes it is!

With several beautiful beaches, rich marine and wildlife, and some unique tourist spots, it's not surprising why a large number of people visit Perth and that number includes myself.

Though I have a home to stay, I opted to stay with my friends at the Discovery Parks in Forrestfield.

The Discovery Parks seems very interesting based on the photos in their website. Unlike the typical hotels which come in skyrise form, this accommodation gives a homey feeling with their "house" style rooms or more popularly known as cabins. I was very impressed when we entered the vicinity. It's a gated area with several cabins set next to each other. It looked like a small peaceful community with great amenities.

The Room

When we saw our cabin, it was like we were in the countryside. The style of the cabins looks pretty much similar to those houses in the countryside; they are fabulous! And the best part was the cabins were fully furnished.

The cabins range from the standard type to the deluxe type. Ours was a standard 2 bedroom cabin - 1 bedroom had a queen size bed and the other had 2 bunker beds. It can accommodate up to 6 people!

Our cabin had 1 restroom and it's pretty decent. It came with basic toiletries and hot and cold shower - the hot shower was essential since it was winter season during that time.

I believe all the 53 cabins at the Discovery Parks feature a living room. We had a sofa made from rattan and a cable LCD television as well as a telephone. Just beside the living area was the dining area with a glass round table and 4 chairs.

Perhaps my favourite part in the cabin was the fully furnished kitchen. It's not just practical for a large group of guests, but it exudes a feeling of being at home. Although the park has its mini store, we decided to buy groceries at the nearby Woolies and cook our meals. Being able to cook meals was a wonderful experience.

The Amenities

The Discovery Parks features various amenities, including an outdoor swimming pool (which was just at the back of our cabin), garden, self-service laundry facility, picnic area, barbecue grills, playground for kids, and free parking. Sadly, we were not able to fully explore the site since we were always out (or sleeping ^_^). There's also a small veranda with a coffee table and chairs, which makes a perfect spot for breakfast.

The Price

For four nights and five days, we spent a little over SG$500, good for 3 adults and 1 child. The price was pretty economical, especially for this type of accommodation.

Will I Recommend Discovery Parks?

Absolutely Yes! Although the internet connection was limited, still I will highly recommend the place. Discovery Parks also offers caravans for those who want to go on a road trip. With a peaceful neighbourhood, friendly staff, good accessibility (the bus stop to the city is just in front), short distance from the airport, and incredible cabins, it is indeed a perfect accommodation choice for a great western adventure.

The Discovery Parks offers great comfort and good value for money!
