Canigao Island: Splashing

Once upon a time... like a few years ago, Canigao Island was dubbed as a hidden paradise in the province of Leyte, specifically in Matalom. It was unexploited, only a few people knew about its superb beauty. The pristine water, white fine sand and the small forest in the middle of the tiny island have lured several beach buffs.

our bangka to the island

To get to the island, we took a motor bangka and traveled for less than an hour.

From a far, the island looked stunning. The powder sand was very enticing. We couldn't wait to step foot on it.

Many locals started to flock into the island, though it wasn't that crowded yet.

After we docked, we paid a small amount of entrance fee and for our cottage.

I was entranced by the crystal clear water and the long stretch of shoreline.... With only few guests, the island remained unexploited and clean during that time. Dip in! Splash!

Scuba divers will love this island because of its abundance in marine life. Divers can relish the colorful sea creatures and extensive scenic coral reefs.

In the middle of the island lays a small forest. Different species of trees were there - both big and small size. We reached the other part of the island in about 15 minutes walk, where we had a photo shoot.. *wink. Nah we just wanted to be away from the other guests in the island.

I believed they allow overnight stay in the island. Guests can either bring tent and camp on the shoreline or rent the small cottages.

Canigao Island is small. You can explore the entire island in less than an hour. Despite being modest, Canigao boasts exceptional beauty that can captivate ones soul and heart.

As of the moment, I heard lots of people are coming into the island, which made it over crowded. Lucky I was able to see Canigao Island at its best, before it became a major tourist destination in the Philippines.

Have you been to this island?
