Solo Adventure Pt 3: The Heat in Pagudpud

Why I mentioned the word "heat"? Well it was freakin' hot when I got in Pagudpud....

Flashback.. On the way to Pagudpud, I met a family that offered me to joined them in their Pagudpud-Laoag tour.

On the fourth day of my 5-day trip, I was in Pagudpud. I woke up early, prepared my stuff, ate my breakfast and bid goodbye to the family where I stayed overnight (my homestay).

Our first stop was the Patapat Viaduct (Patapat Bridge), but we stopped by at the Kaibigan Falls signage. We did not hike to the waterfall because - no time.

Patapat Bridge

The Patapat Bridge was built beside those towering mountains and just above the water. According to our guide, it was constructed to minimize the accident rate in this particular area. The bridge connects Ilocos Norte to the next province, Cagayan Valley. A few meters above the bridge was the road which used to be the only means of going to Cagayan. Before, a number of vehicles that took the route fell off the cliff; thus, the Patapat Viaduct was made.

Needless to say, we took some pictures in the middle of the road and on the other side of the bridge. No worries as the bridge seemed to haven't met Mr. Traffic - no vehicles during that time. Actually, I think not too many vehicles pass the bridge.

Our next destination was on the other end of the bridge - the Blue Lagoon. Actually, the lagoon was just alongside the Hannah's Resort, which is a 5-star resort (not sure if Hannah's Resort owned the lagoon). There was a zipline, which will passed above the crystal blue water, but we didn't tried it as we went inside the Hannah's resort. We paid Php100/pax as entrance to the resort. If you want to use their infinity pool, an additional fee is charged. What made Hannah's Resort more interesting was its signage - like the HOLLYWOOD. From afar, you can already see the signage of Hannah's.

wow.. the Madagascar characters.....

Scattered inside the resort were life-size statues of famous cartoon and movie characters, including the Madagascar casts, the Hulk, Shrek and Fiona with children, pirates, the Avatars, Looney toons, Dinosaur, small dragons, Marvel characters, snow white and 7 dwarves, son guko, naruto, and more.

Statue of Liberty.. hihi
the view....

But I was so amazed with the Statue of Liberty. Oh yes! I don't need to go to New York to see it. hahaha. From the top-most part of Hannah's, my eyes feasted on the panoramic view - pristine water, white sand and green trees surrounding the beach.

more dinosaurs!!!
The Avatar....did you guys migrated?

After an hour, we left the resort. Along the way was the Bantay Abot cave, we didn't stop as it was so hot. We traveled maybe an hour to reach our next destination, the Bangui Wind Mills in Burgos.

soooo nice...

Looking at the pictures on the net, I thought those wind mills are just as big as the lamp post. But I was wrong, those wind mills were in fact giants. I felt so small under the wind mill. I was totally speechless when I get the chance to see and witness how the wind mills work. These wind mills were elegantly installed along the shore which made it more interesting to visit.

kuya almost at the bottom of a wind mill...

Our guide told us that new wind mills were installed (can be seen from the road) in some parts of Burgos, but are not yet functional. And more wind mills will be installed in the coming months. These mills are the main source of power in the area.

Next destination was the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation. It took us another 30 - 45 mins. travel to get to this place in Burgos. The road going to Kapurpurawan was already concrete, our guide told us that before it was a rough road. Thanks to the wind mills installed near the area the road was cemented. We paid an entrance fee of Php15/pax, but they let us pay Php50 for 4 adults and 1 child.

Near the parking area were the souvenir shops so I bought some items. Going to the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation, you need to hike a few minutes or you can rent a horse. It was still hot but the gust of the wind made the hike relaxing. Considering that the rock formation is situated along the sea, it is believed that the strong waves carved the shape of the rocks.

The front part of the formation was restricted due to several accidents that happened there (some guests do not know how to follow rules).  But the back part of the formation was exceptional! The rock was so white. Oh well, this is why it is called Kapurpurawan. The word "kapur" literally means white. We took some pictures. The place was such a picturesque view with the enchanting white rock formation and the blue water on the side. Panoramic indeed!

see how white the rock was? I almost blended.. hihi
We headed back to our van. But one thing's for sure....I truly enjoyed visiting the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation. It felt like I was in a different place (like in Europe), I heard they also have a rock formation.

Off to our last destination in Burgos which was the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse. It was on top of the mountain overlooking the sea. The lighthouse was old, but some parts were already restored. It was built in 1887 and finished in 1890. The lighthouse serves as guide to several sea vessels since 1892 until the present times. It was declared as a national treasure in 2005.

The view from the top of the lighthouse was simply breathtaking. But it was hot because it was already noon.

Lunch time!.. .. But we decided to have lunch in Laoag... Ouch! that's almost two hours from Burgos. I was very hungry.....
