Witchcraft Addiction: A Quick Insight of Charmed Sisters

Watching television used to be a boring pastime for me.Every time I watched tv, I felt so sleepy and I ended up sleeping on the couch.

One day, (errr t'was evening) everything has changed when I caught a glimpse of three women trying to vangquish a demon. 'Wow!" - my first reaction. And so, I was glued on that tv show on The WB. Surprisingly, it caught my interest and curiosity. From that moment on, watching the tv series called "Charmed" became a habit - later on turned out to be an addiction. 

Charmed's plot is really interesting - Witchcraft. I thought it was unique - three sisters with different powers. Many tv shows have similar format and stories.  I was tired and sick of plain dramas on tv. I wanted something new - something that can tickle my imagination. That is why Charmed is a perfect option. The story revolved around family relationship, falling in-love, protecting innocents and fighting for what you believe in. The series did not only captured my interest but my heart as well.For about eight years (October 1998 - May 2006), I was captivated by the "Power of Three".

Here are the main characters (widely know as four Ps), who made Charmed a spellbinding tv series.


Prudence "Prue" Halliwell 

Played by Shannen Doherty. Prue is one of the powerful witches, most specifically Charmed Ones. Her power is telekinesis. She is able to move object using her mind.Later on, Prue discovered a new power; wherein, she can move her body to another location using astral projection.Other magical abilities include empathy, scrying, beweing potions, and casting spells.


Piper Halliwell

Played by Holly Marie Combs. Piper is the second sister of the original sisters.After the death of Prue, she is considered as the most powerful Charmed Ones. One of her powers is being able to manipulate molecules allowing her to slow down the movement and eventually, freezing things. She can also speep up the molecules causing them to explode. Piper married whitelighter Leo and became a mother of three: Wyatt, Chris and Melinda. She possesses other powers including casting spells, scrying, divining and her specialty - brewing potions.


Phoebe Halliwell

Played by Alyssa Milano. Phoebe is the third sister completing the "Power of Three". She is the youngest among the original sisters. She had gone to college and attended a martial arts training allowing her to combat enemies without using her powers. Her self defense classes made her an effective hand-to-hand fighter. Aside from the typical magical powers, like spell casting, scrying and brewing potions, she has the power of premonition. It is her first known power, which she eventually develops letting her perform astral projection. Though her premonition power, she is able to see the future by simply touching an object or a person. Phoebe has also discovered a new power - levetation. It allows her to float in the air and to defy gravity. As she gets matured, she develops another power - empathy. The power of empathy enables her to experience and feel the emotions of other people.


Paige Halliwell

Played by Rose McGowan. Paige is the fourth sister of the Halliwell's. Her existence was kept unknown until the death of Prue. She is the daughter of Patricia Halliwell and Sam Wilder (her whitelighter). Patricia dropped baby Paige in a local church, since she was a fruit of forbidden affair. The law of witchcraft forbids a witch and a whitelighter to be together. At the funeral of Prue, Paige showed off feeling the magical urge to pay her respect for the unknown elder sister. Eventually, she got reunited with her two remaining sisters. With a whitelighter father, her premonent power is telekinetic orbing. She is able to move things using her mind by orbing the objects from one place to another (vocal command). This power also enables her to teleport, which is a dominant ability of whitelighters. Being a mixture of whitelighter and witch, she has many other powers including orb-shield, sensing, healing, glamouring and telepathy. Just like the other sisters, she can cast spells, make potions and do scrying.
